A Skull in Connemara

My next performance is in the Irish dark comedy stage production of A Skull in Connemara, by Martin McDonagh. I'm playing the lead character, Mick Dowd, the community's gravedigger who may or may not have murdered his wife seven years ago. I'm joined by an ensemble of three other excellent actors and we're all being skillfully directed by Lorella Loftus in this production of the Celtic Cultural Center of Texas.

We open Friday, July 20 at the Dougherty Arts Center on Barton Springs Road (Google Calendar Schedule, with Google Map). Opening night includes a reception with live Irish music and beverages starting at 7:30 pm. (I won't be present at the reception.) Performances follow Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm and Sunday early evenings at 6:00 pm, through August 5th. Tickets are $12 each ($9.19 if purchased online in advance). The play depicts violence and the dialogue includes moderate profanity and sexual references and might not be appropriate for children under age 15.

This project is funded in part by the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts Division and a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.
